Greg battled cancer for many years and always had a positive outlook going forward. Greg and wife Sue took many trips on Alaska cruises as they loved Alaska. Greg spoke often of his son who was  at one time one of the best runers to come out of the U.W.  Was good to see him at the 50th , he enjoyed seeing so many good friends. He will always be in our memories.

Greg and myself went to elementary school in Yakima, WA (grades one thru sixth). Greg’s father had a hobby store business where we would buy model airplanes, cars and other things to put together. I moved to Seattle in 1961 and then to Lynwood the following year. I was surprised to see Greg at Meadowdale High our sophomore year. Fate has a way of bringing us full circle. I’m very sad to learn of Greg’s passing. Greg was a good classmate and friend. I will miss him and remember our long time friendship growing up. May God keep you and bless your family always.

I only knew Greg from our participation in track and field. Greg was such a competitive and outstanding athlete, as well as a leader on the track team. We did not have many seniors on the 1967 track team (Greg, Don Miller, Gerry Richmond, Dave Baer, and John Lewis, as I recall). I always had high regard for those seniors, but in particular, I looked up to Greg.

The 1967 District 15 track meet is one I remember. It was a three team event with Edmonds, Moutlake Terrace and Meadowdale. I was in lane one in the two-hundred and twenty yard sprint. I was not, what you would call, a particularly powerful sprinter, and Greg was a powerful sprinter in the grueling four-hundred and forty yard sprint. So, Greg positioned himself to shout encouragement to me just as the sprinters and I rounded the turn. I was in fifth place! Not good! Since I was in lane one, Greg, realizing my dilema, gave me a roaring, ear splitting shout, GET GOING!!! He got my attention! I ended up winning that race by a nose, literally! Probably my best '220' that I ever ran, and I owe it to Greg! I should have asked Greg to coach me in all of our track meets!

I wish Greg's family all the best, and I am grateful that I was able to see Greg at the 50th.
