Sorry to hear Don passed away , was somewhat shy and quite in high school and only spoke to him a couple of times . Would have enjoyed seeing him at the 50 year reunion.

Don was extremely bright and,  once you got inside that quiet demeanor, had a witty sense of humor.  I knew Don from about 1st grade at Maple Park through early years at the UW.  He was diagnosed with diabetes in about 5th grade, so that may have contritued to health issues.   He excelled in science and math, and I think he ended up in accounting for much of his career. Believe it or not, Don once got a hold of an old plunger type generator that was used to detonate explosives.  It looked just like the ones from the old movies.  In 8th grade science, at Meadowdale Jr. he hooked it up to the bottom side of the rivets in Mr. Bushes chair.  When Mr. Bush sat down, he pushed the plunger down.  We had no idea how much voltage or current that little generator produced, but it was enough to send Mr. Bush out of his chair and launch him at Don.  Fortunately, he regained his aplomb before he was able to strangle Don.  I visited Don at his house, which overlooked the old Sno-King Drive In.  He could watch the screen from his bedroom window and there were rumors that he had sneaked in and run wires to get the sound also.  He loved Walt Kelly's "Pogo" comic strips and I remember borrowing the books that collected the strips from Don.  Other close friends included Bob Haar, Gary DeBardi, and Jim Vaughn (also deceased).  Great memories of a great friend.
